Lake Michigan Coastal Program to Convene GLRI Meeting
Indiana Ag Connection - 11/18/2009
The Indiana DNR's Lake Michigan Coastal Program will convene a meeting in anticipation of the upcoming release of the FY2010 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) request for proposals. The Great
Lakes Restoration Initiative will receive $250 million to pass on to projects that restore, enhance and protect the natural resources of the Great Lakes basins.
This meeting will take place on Monday at the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission in Portage, Ind. from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CST.
The LMCP will serve as a regional coordinator for Indiana's application submissions on behalf of agencies, communities and organizations that are seeking funding for critical habitat restoration, non-point
source pollution remediation and invasive species removal projects in the Lake Michigan basin. The LMCP will provide technical assistance, contextual information for applications, and grant administration
services.
The LMCP was created to coordinate efforts between local, state, and federal governments as well as local organizations and to support projects that protect and restore natural, cultural and historical
resources in Indiana's Lake Michigan Coastal region.
The LMCP is funded through the Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Office of Coastal Resource Management.
