Funding Cuts Curtail Parts of Weekly Crop Progress Reports

For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.6 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 42 percent very short, 34 short, 23 adequate, and 1 surplus, according to the Kansas USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 30 percent very short, 43 short, 27 adequate, and 0 surplus.

Winter wheat condition rated 15 percent very poor, 35 poor, 37 fair, 12 good, and 1 excellent.

Data for this release were provided at the county level by USDA Farm Service agency and KSU Extension Service, and other reporters across the State.

District-level estimates for sorghum, days suitable for fieldwork, and topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies will not be published in 2018 due to lack of external funding.
