Maple Syrup Demos and Tours at County Park
Minnesota Ag Connection - 03/07/2018

A unique activity that takes place at Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park is the Wildwood Ranch maple syrup operation, which is run by a local family that has collected sap from this land for nearly 40 years. A combination of modern vacuum tubing and traditional buckets is used to collect sap which is then boiled down and processed on site. Come learn about the process with free guided tours and demonstrations of the operation during the open house on March 31st from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear is recommended.

For more information or for groups interested in touring the operation at another time, please contact Shelly Carlson at carlsonwildwoodranch@msn.com or 320-363-7784. The maple syrup operation is located two miles west of St. Joseph at 29709 Kipper Road.

Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park contains 265 acres and was acquired by Stearns County in 2007. Existing trails are open year-round for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, walking dogs on leashes, research, and enjoying the outdoors.
