Vilsack Rumored to Lead Dairy Export Council
USAgNet - 01/04/2017
Agri-Pulse is reporting that U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will become the next president and CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council when he leaves office this month.
Tom Suber retired at the end of the year as president of the organization, which is funded by checkoff revenue to track and promote trade in American dairy products and ingredients.
A USDA spokeswoman said she could not confirm Vilsack's plans; and the ag secretary has not discussed his post-USDA plans.
A former governor of Iowa, Vilsack served as the top agricultural official for Obama's entire eight-year term.
