Stabenow Announces Hearing on Specialty Crops, Organics

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, announced the committee will hold a hearing on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. EST in room G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The hearing will examine the role specialty crops and organics play in American agriculture with a focus on opportunities in the next Farm Bill. Witnesses detailed below.

The hearing, "Opportunities for Specialty Crops and Organics in the Farm Bill" will include a live, streaming webcast available for viewing on the committee website at http://ag.senate.gov.

This hearing will begin immediately following the nomination hearing of Brian T. Baenig (nominated to be Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture). That hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The witness list for Thursday's hearing includes:
