Farmers for Free Trade Announce USMCA Ad Campaign
USAgNet - 11/27/2019

Farmers for Free Trade, the bipartisan coalition supported by America's leading agricultural commodity and business groups, announced a new radio and digital ad campaign focused on getting a deal and passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement quickly.

The ad campaign, which will launch this week with an over $300,000 buy in just over 20 Congressional districts, will focus on why USMCA is a badly needed victory for farmers and the rural economy. The campaign will consist of 30-second radio spots featuring American farmers personally advocating for passage that will run on traditional and ag radio, as well as digital ads in all targeted districts.

The initial $300,000 ad buy will focus on Democratic members of Congress in areas with significant concentrations of farmers and ranchers that benefit from USMCA. These lawmakers are critical to passage and influential among their peers in making the case for USMCA.

"With so many new Democratic members of Congress from districts with agricultural roots, it's falls to them to make the case that USMCA is vital for farmers," said former Senator Blanche Lincoln, a spokesperson for Farmers for Free Trade and the former Senate Ag Committee Chair from Arkansas. "American farmers have had a rough go of it lately which makes it even more essential that this agreement is passed. We can't wait until the agreement gets hijacked by politics. Farmers, ranchers and the broader rural economy needs this now."

"Farmers are growing frustrated that USMCA seems to be stalling in Congress," said Farmers for Free Trade Co-Executive Director Angela Hofmann. "This ad campaign will reinforce the groundswell of support for USMCA among farmers who want to see this agreement passed immediately. Farmers are seeking certainty that the enormous export gains they saw under NAFTA will be continued under the upgraded USMCA. This is one issue they expect Democrats and Republicans to work together on."

Ads as part of the campaign will also thank certain members of Congress for their work in advocating for USMCA passage.
