IDFA Seeks Candidates for 2018 Summer Internship
USAgNet - 11/09/2017

IDFA is seeking applicants for its 2018 summer internship, which will offer one undergraduate or recent graduate a firsthand view of the association's efforts on dairy policy with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and federal officials in regulatory agencies. The selected candidate will work in Washington, D.C., to support IDFA's efforts on the upcoming farm bill, the school lunch program, trade policy and the bioengineered food disclosure standard, among other issues of interest to dairy product companies.

The internship, which is a paid position, will start in May or June and run for 10 to 12 weeks. The successful candidate will work with IDFA's legislative or regulatory affairs teams on special projects, research and events, including IDFA's Regulatory RoundUP, legislative fly-ins and the Annual Capitol Hill Ice Cream Party.

Students with an interest in food and agriculture policy are encouraged to apply by the Dec. 15 deadline.

To qualify, candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university. Candidates must also be pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in business, political science, international affairs, agriculture, the food and beverage industry, food science or a related field. Each candidate will be required to submit an application, a resume, a one-page essay and references.

"We are pleased to provide an exceptional learning opportunity to a potential future leader in the dairy industry and offer an inside look into dairy policy and regulations in Washington," said Michael Dykes, D.V.M., IDFA president and CEO. "We welcome an outstanding student with an interest in food and agriculture policy to work alongside our subject matter experts to experience the legislative and regulatory process from a front-row seat."

To learn more about the internship and to apply, students may visit IDFA's internship page or contact Heather Soubra, IDFA chief of staff, at hsoubra@idfa.org or (202) 220-3551.
