Farm Journal Poll Shows How Farmers Rate Trump in First 100 Days
USAgNet - 05/01/2017

Farm Journal Media has tracked farmer sentiment of Donald Trump since mid-2015. Several polls throughout 2015 and 2016 showed he was the clear favorite candidate within the agriculture industry. Now that it's 2017, and President Trump is wrapping up his first 100 days in office, is farm country standing by its selection?

According to the latest FJM Pulse poll, Trump's farmer support has remained largely intact. Asked to grade his first 100 days in office, a healthy majority of the more than 1,200 respondents assigned A's and B's. Specifically, 43% of respondents would give Trump an A and another 30% would give him a B for his first 100 days.

Another 12% of respondents gave Trump a more middle-of-the-road C, with the remaining 15% assigning a D or F.

Trump has had a relatively active first 100 days that has included assembling his cabinet (including Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture and Scott Pruitt as administrator of the EPA), signing a flurry of more than 30 new executive orders, and signing some 28 pieces of legislation into law to date.

Several other items on Trump's policy agenda - including infrastructure investment, immigration reform, tax cuts, repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, renegotiating trade agreements and more - will highly impact farmers if and when they are enacted.

The Farm Journal Pulse polls farmers and ranchers for their straight-from-the-farm opinions and crop progress updates.
