What's Hot!Winter Farmers Market Running in MilwaukeeThe Wisconsin Apple Growers Association is sponsoring a weekly winter farmers market in Milwaukee County. The market is Saturday mornings at the Tommy G. Thompson Youth Building at 640 S. 84th St in West Allis, on the grounds of the Wisconsin State Fair. The hours are 8:00am to noon. The market will run weekly through April 24, 2010 except on Saturdays close to holidays. This will be a "producer-only" market. Only products grown or made on the sellers farm will be allowed. Baked goods and products made on the farm with ingredients obtained locally will also be sold. The Winter Farmers Market hopes to expand the season for local farmers, encourage sustainable agriculture, increase the public's access to fresh, locally grown farm products, and to let buyers know where their food comes from. More information will be released as the market gets closer. Vendors interested in selling their farm products should see the rules and application.
